You can lead a healthy life by following a balanced diet, not smoking, exercising and relaxing. By living a healthy life you can reduce the risk of many common ailments. Healthy living also helps you to stay fit for longer.

A healthy lifestyle is taking good care of your body and your mind

More than 37.000 (24.6 percent) people died of cardiovascular disease in the Netherlands in 2019. Now that many people are staying at home due to Corona, the active lifestyle previously enjoyed may have been replaced by a more sedentary one. This is where we can help you.

Difficulty getting into motion or moving with a chronic condition

  • Do you have a chronic condition such as osteoarthritis, COPD, osteoporosis or coronary heart disease?

  • Or do you have difficulty maintaining an active lifestyle as a result of a chronic condition or, for example, after an oncological treatment?

  • Do you spend a lot of time at the computer because of your work?

Physical activity can then be of great benefit to you. Regular exercise contributes to your health. Exercise has a positive effect on blood pressure and cholesterol levels, heart and blood vessels remain in better condition and bones remain strong for longer. Exercise also helps you to avoid excess weight gain due to inactivity.

Tailor-made movement

On this site you will find workouts and exercises for all the key areas of your body. You can easily perform these by following our videos for guidance.

Physiotherapy

If you have complaints of the musculoskeletal system, for example pain and/or restriction of movement, you can be treated by us in the practice directly and without the need for a referral from your GP.

In this Corona time we also work with video calling. We can guide you remotely.

If you have a chronic condition as mentioned above, please call us first. Then we can determine with you whether a referral is required from your doctor.

Within physiotherapy we work from the biomechanical model.

This means that we look at problems related to:

  • Mobility / flexibility

  • Balance

  • Power

  • Physical fitness

Your personal situation is taken into account, so that we can provide a balanced treatment and the exercises that are suitable for you.

Develop and maintain an active lifestyle

Exercise guidelines:

  • Exercise is good, more exercise is better

  • Perform at least 150 minutes a week of moderate intensity exercise, spread over several days. Longer, more frequent and / or more intensive exercise provides additional health benefits

  • Perform muscle and bone strengthening activities combined with balance exercises at least twice a week

  • Finally: Avoid sitting still for over 30 minutes at any one time.

Develop a healthy diet

Guideline for a healthy diet (nutrition center):

  • At least 200 grams of vegetables

  • At least 200 grams of fruit (2 pieces)

  • Less than 10% saturated fat

  • Limit salt use

Benefits of exercise together with a healthy diet as described above:

  • Enhancing elasticity and function of the blood vessels

  • Improving heart and blood vessel function, thus lowering LDL cholesterol and increasing HDL cholesterol

  • Overall strengthening of the muscles

  • Reduction of body fat to muscle ratio

With this

  • The risk of Diabetes and Cardiovascular disease decreases

  • The bones remain strong

  • Lung capacity (oxygen uptake) increases

  • Stress decreases
